Motorsport: Tander gets clean sweep at Hamilton 400 V8 debutSun, 20 Apr 2008 04:54p.m.

Reigning V8 Supercar champion Garth Tander stamped his authority on the inaugural Hamilton 400 today, winning the second and third races to complete a clean sweep on the new street circuit. Tander, who claimed the opening race yesterday, was largely untroubled in leading from start to finish in both contests today. The Toll Holden Racing Team driver's victory lifted him to second on the points table, behind new leader Rick Kelly, who was a consistent second, sixth and fourth this weekend. Previous series leader Jamie Whincup did not make the grid for any of the races, after his car received major damage in a crash during qualifying. Holden have now won all eight rounds in New Zealand, the first seven of them contested at Pukekohe. Second overall in Hamilton was Ford Performance Racing's Steven Richards, the New Zealander having two second placings today to go with his third yesterday.
Third was another Ford driver, James Courtenay, who finished a place behind Richards in each race.
