For the older kids, the latest fantasy-other-worldly kid's movie The Spiderwick Chronicles is here.
Based on the books, this is a family-friendly flick with a few scary moments, some cool creatures great and small, and some good performances from the children actors.
The film doesn't feel particularly original, and suffers from a lack of freshness, but it still holds the interest.
3 and a half stars from me.
The Kid's View - by Caitlin James (aged 9)
I liked the bit when the oven blows up. My favourite character was Hogsqueal because he was funny and he spat in their eyes to make them be able to see the magical creatures. My least favourite bit was when Jared found the book because it was a bit scary. I would recommend the movie for 7-years-old and over because it was a bit scary and a bit funny. I have read some of the books and the film was like I imagined it to be.
